Mark Morse spoke to us a few days ago, about Getting Involved and Staying Engaged.
He said "Do what you do best". What we do best, here in The Villages, is get involved.

Mark brought to our attention something most of us just take for granted. He urged us to "Preserve and Protect Our Lifestyle". Do we need to do something to protect this marvelous gift, which we received when we moved here? The answer is "Yes," we do need to do something. We at The-villages-online.com have decided to do our part.

The Villages Online.com is in an expansion mode. We are adding several new sections to our Website. Since our goal from day one, was to Enhance this Lifestyle we all enjoy; and keep the residents informed; we have decided to answer the call expressed by
Mr. Morse.

We are going to add a section to this site; that is called "Preserve & Protect"
This section will be a place for each of you to participate. Each of you will be able to enter your thoughts, to design your way of solving problems, head-up or join a group that is ready to do what they feel is the best thing they can; to preserve this Lifestyle.

We will be forming "The Ambassador's Club". This will be a place for volunteers to join together. Some of you may decide to hold meetings; others may decide to have "Virtual Meetings". (Meetings held online)

You may wonder how you can help; what you can do. Here are just a couple of ideas.

If you see something you think other villagers should know about. Take a picture; and
E-mail it to us, if you don't have a camera with you, some of you may know how to use your cell phone to catch a happening, and then e-mail that..

Feel strongly about something, like the need for a stoplight, or a shelter for residents in case of a hurricane. Do you have something to contribute to the dialog on Recycling? Write an article, make a video, and contact others with similar feelings. This is a chance to recycle yourself... get back in the game. There are a many of you out there, with Talents that this community could use.

Is there a Service that you feel we need? Would you like a place to voice your opinion? Sometimes when we're too close, we can't see the forest, for the trees. If you can help correct the view, please do so. We will provide a place for this within our new "Preserve & Protect" section.

If there's is something here in The Villages, that you feel needs to be preserved, would you like to be a part of preserving or enhanceing it?

If theirs is something missing and you would like to promote it...Have at it, we will help.

Is there something you are involved in, or would like to be involved in, that doesn't quite fit in to the structure of "The Villages Clubs." We will help you create a new group, and publicize it.

One idea we thought should be tackled, is to create a living history of "The Villages," before all of us old timers disappear.

These are just a few of the examples that popped into our heads.

What's in your head? Please share it with us.

We will all soon be asked to elect members to the Amenity Committee. What should their qualifications be? This can be very important to all of us. Are you willing to be nominated?

Virtual Meetings

The last thing we would ask of anyone is to come to a meeting. In these times, Online Meetings are the norm.

Thanks to modern technology virtual meetings should be the norm and not necessarily in real time. This is a definite time saver; you will never have to miss a pickle ball match or a golf game. As we move further into this project, we will post instructions on how to hold a Virtual Meeting.

There are so many facets to the preserving of a Lifestyle, and protecting the freedom and rights we have come to take for granted; what we need is to make this a community effort. It will take hundreds of citizens. This is a great opportunity for you to volunteer; even if it is just to carry out some very small job or uncover some area that needs attention.

We are here to provide the communication network.

No charge for space, no contract to sign. You just need to volunteer to be an Ambassador. Someone, possibly you neighbor or a friend will step up and say, let me help. This is that kind of a community; let's all pitch in, and keep it that way. Mark was right; we all need to get involved.

If you're a take charge kind of a person...tell us what your ideas are. Chances are we will love it, and empower you, since the only criteria is to "Persevere and Enhance Our Lifestyle".
